Canadian Space Agency Astronaut David Saint-Jacques Visits Saskatoon
On February 9 and 10, Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut David Saint-Jacques will meet with Saskatoon elementary, high school and university students, as well as the public in various locations around the city. David will take the audience on the challenging yet inspirational journey that led him to becoming a Canadian astronaut. He will discuss his training and work, life on the International Space Station, Canadian robotics, and will share his insights on space exploration. Additionally, David will meet with several members of the space industry and academic partners for briefings on their projects and initiatives.
Governments Celebrate Official Opening of Cambridge Bay Hamlet Office
The Honourable Hunter Tootoo, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard was in Cambridge Bay today on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, to celebrate the completed construction of a new hamlet office in the hub of the Kitikmeot region with the community. He was accompanied by the Honourable Peter Taptuna, Premier of Nunavut; the Honourable Keith Peterson, Minister of Finance; and Jeannie Ehaloak, Mayor of the Municipality of Cambridge Bay.
Sydney, Nova Scotia on track to welcome Syrian refugees
The community of Sydney has come forward as an early adopter of a process that was formally announced last week. The Government of Canada has been working with provinces and territories to establish criteria for communities wishing to become welcoming communities for government-assisted refugees (GARs).
